Primary PE Apprenticeships

We run a unique apprenticeship programme in partnership with our training provider Sporting Futures Training Ltd. Our scheme will be different to other providers, as it focuses on key professional development for the apprentices that has a direct impact on schools sports premium key indicators and school games mark.

The apprentices are allocated to a primary school for a 12-month period to gain their level 2 apprenticeships. Their main role is to support Physical Education lessons and support the wider delivery of sport & physical activity.

Schools info

There will be an option to continue to level 3 the following year, if the school wishes to keep them. The apprentices will work 4 days in school and will be released 1 day for additional training and college work.

The impact of the additional training will be that the apprentices will have knowledge to:

  • support delivery of Change4 life clubs
  • run regular lunchtime activity & support play leaders to run activities at lunchtimes and monitor pupil participation. Mentor the play leaders to improve their skills
  • support school sports council meetings
  • run level 1 competitions and train leaders to support
  • provide practice sessions to teams prior to level 2 competitions
  • attend level 2 competitions with their school team
  • include pupils with SEND into PE lessons
  • provide gross motor skill intervention classes to small groups
  • run & monitor fitness challenges for pupils so schools can evidence impact / improvement on health & well being
  • promote & reward the school games values on a regular basis
  • enter competitions on the KSSP website, remind staff about up and coming events
  • blog on the school games website and support students to do the same
  • run after school clubs (once they have completed the level 2 doorstep sport qualification)

The schools involved in the programme will also receive additional opportunities for pupils, as we will want groups of children to work with during CPD sessions

If you are interested in having an apprentice next academic year please contact our School Sport & Workforce Manager (apprentice salaries are from £6710 upwards depending on age and level of apprentice.  Admin & training fees then apply)
