The easiest way to run this competition is with a whole class during PE or an enrichment activity, however this can be completed at lunchtimes. The children will have to take on some leadership roles during the competition. They need to keep count at each station and will act as an official counting and recording the scores, ensuring their team does not cheat!
The resource cards explain how to set up each station, but we also have a video resource which explains the 3 scored stations and the 3 fun stations. To view the video, please CLICK HERE.
Teams can compete in mixed year groups, e.g. year 1&2.
Teams should comprise of 10 children; there are no specific gender requirements. (If you are completing the competition with a whole class you are likely to have 3 teams participating).
Each team should have a scoresheet and an allocated official for each station or each round.
Teams complete each station twice for 3 minutes and record the score. The teams best score from the 3 scored stations (Throw and catch relay, bean bag in the hoop relay and baton exchange relay) will be used up to enter the event.
Please encourage the children to demonstrate the School Games Values whilst competing, especially HONESTY & TEAMWORK
where possible, try and allocate other leadership roles to the pupils (Activity Organiser, Official, Motivator).
HOW TO ENTER:
Once the class / group of children have has completing the competition, collect in their team sheets ensuring they have recorded their scores correctly and that they look realistic. To complete the class overall score sheet and input the results please CLICK HERE.
